Coming to grips with accepting that the struggle we have is far more complex than the protracted liberation struggle that led to the birth of Zimbabwe.
It now involves inflencing a change mindsets, changing the way our people view and understand the purpose of politics in nation building.
It's more and more about mental liberation and enlightenment, that can help citizens know and fully appreciate what it means when one is said to be playing their part as an individual belonging to a collective effort to improve the lives of humanity. It's also about understanding how our our economy should work and equipping ourselves with the tools and resources to make it work for the many.
For me it means before l contemplate being part of a broad based agenda for change, its important to first self-reflect on my own strengths and weakneses as an individual, assess if I am doing or have done enough to improve my own little circle.
I believe that if we are struggling to manage ourselves at individual level, chances are we will struggle to manage activities that involve working with others.
Unless we are willing to acknowledge our own imperfections progressing beyond our individualism will remain a fleeting illusion still to be pursued.
I love my country of birth Zimbabwe, I love meeting and working with people from diverse backgrounds. I believe when we connect, we have the opportunity to identify common areas of interests that can be a source of strength in overcoming common barriers to progress.
However when it comes to making sacrifices that can produce measurable outcomes, it takes principled men and women with the courage to move beyond their comfort zones. Some have chosen the easy way, which sometimes involves breaking and bending rules at the expense of sacrificing moral and ethical principles (corruption). It might indeed boost ones ego and give them a feel good factor of being ahead of others but the long term effects of popularising such a culture have retrogressive effects on a nations economic progress.
Making sacrifices I believe requires individuals who appreciate that 'TIME' is the most valuable thing in life and we should manage it in a manner that adds value to our personal pursuits whilst at the same time being able to compliment our collective efforts as part of a broader objective.
I have limits to what I can do alone but more room for growth in terms of what I can do as part of an organised collective.
Our interconnectedness defines what we can accomplish in our jouneys of life.
